With an Android tablet, the longest time period that your tablet can stay “awake” on its own (not timed out) is 30 minutes. After a period of inactivity, your tablet will automatically go dark.
In this instance, this will prevent your tablet from playing a sound on an incoming order, which may cause you to miss the order.
There are two ways you can prevent this from happening:
- If you have an Otter printer, turn your orders to Auto-Accept. In the example above, your orders will still print even if the tablet is in sleep mode. It’s not the same as a sound notification; however, it can serve as another type of notification for your staff
- Adjust your tablet to stay active for 30 minutes as opposed to the 10 minutes
- You can do this by going to the Settings in your tablet
- Navigate to Display -> Screen Timeout
- Adjust to 30 minutes
